Power Factor Correction

The AC electrical networks consume both active and reative power as we called ( Kw ) and ( Kvar ).

• The real-active power ( P-Kw ) transmitted to loads such as motors, lamps, heaters...they are transformed into mechanical power, people called heat or light.
• Reactive power (Q-Kvar ), used supply only mag-netic part of the machine where they have motors and transformers.
• Apparent power ( S-KVA ) is combined vector of both active and reactive power.
• Cos pi representation of power factor ( P/S ).
